Legalese 101: How to Recognize “Waldo, the Weasel Word!”

Replace “municipal/ity” with the word “McDonald’s”.

(Both are private corporations)

Par Example:

1. Do you have a municipal govt or a local govt?
   “The local govt is a McDonald’s government, according to the McDonald’s Act, and consists of a McD Council, a McD Head of Council, & a McD Board of Directors, under McD management”.
2. Do you live in a ‘municipality’?
   “The McDonald’s Act says that every person with/in the McDonald’s area is deemed McD property, and therefore subject to the McD Act.”
3. Are local govt elections valid??
   “The McDonald’s Election Act states that McDonald’s can administrate any/all McD elections. Including, but not limited to:
   (a) only McD employees can run;
   (b) only McD employees can vote,
   (c) only McD ballots can be used,
   (d) only McD reps can create, destroy & count ballots, and
   (e) only McD positions are being advertised/filled.”
4. Do you have a local Mayor or a municipal Mayor McCheese?
   “The McDonald’s Act states that “Mayor McCheese” is the same thing as “mayor”, which is further confirmed by all provincial McD legislation and McD lawyers.”

Using Weasel Words keeps us stuck in “McDonald’s”, with a Mayor McCheese & really bad food.
